About This Tool

Free online audio compressor: drop in an MP3, M4A, WhatsApp or Telegram voice message, iPhone voice memo, WAV or FLAC, pick the quality you want and download the lighter file. Nothing to install and no sign-up.

It earns its keep when a recording is too heavy to send: meeting and lecture recordings, lesson files and podcasts, interview audio, or a long voice note that has to go through Telegram, WhatsApp, email or a portal with a size cap. It also helps for freeing up phone storage and archiving old recordings.

Before you download, you see the estimated output size as you set the quality, and you can play the result to make sure the audio still sounds clean enough. You can also hand it several files at once. Your files never leave your device and nothing is kept on a server.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reduce an audio file's size?
Drag the file onto the page or click the box to select it. A quality slider appears with the estimated output size beside it; set the quality you want and press compress, and the final size and reduction percentage appear next to the file with a download button.
Which quality should I pick for voice and which for music?
For voice and speech such as meeting recordings, lectures and podcasts, 64 to 96 kbps gives the smallest file while staying perfectly clear. For music, 128 is a good balance, and go to 192 when quality matters more to you.
How do I get a file under a specific size, say 10 MB?
No guessing needed. As you move the quality slider, the estimated output size updates beside it; bring it down until the number is under your limit and then press compress.
My file did not get smaller, or it got bigger. Why?
That means the original was already low quality and the setting you picked was higher than it. Choose a lower quality so the file comes out lighter; if an output ends up larger, the tool flags it with a red badge.
How many files can I compress at once?
There is no limit on the number. Hand it several files together, they are all compressed with your chosen setting, and “Download All” gives them to you in a single ZIP.
Which formats are supported?
Input can be MP3, M4A, OGG, Opus, WAV, FLAC, AAC, WEBA or WebM. The output is always MP3 so it plays without trouble on any phone, computer or messenger.
What is the maximum file size and length?
MP3, M4A, WAV and OGG go up to 500 MB with no length limit, so multi-hour recordings are fine. FLAC, WebM and AAC cap at 100 MB and around half an hour of audio on a computer, less on a phone. Anything over the limit is turned away right at the start with a clear message.
Can I listen to the result before downloading?
Yes. A player appears under each file so you can hear the output. If it is not clean enough, pick a higher quality and run it again.
Where is the compressed file saved?
Wherever your browser puts downloads: usually the Downloads folder on Windows and Android, and the Files app on iPhone. The “Download All” ZIP lands in the same place.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The files never leave your device and nothing is stored, so meeting recordings and personal audio are safe to run through it.
