About This Tool
A favicon is the small icon shown in browser tabs, bookmark bars and search results next to your site name. Here you hand over one image and get every size that browsers and phones ask for, in one go. No install, no sign-up.
You usually need this when a new site or shop has just gone live and the tab still shows the browser's blank default, or when the logo changed and the old icon has to be replaced. WordPress sites, company pages, one-page landings and installable PWAs all want the same set of files, and cutting each size by hand in an image editor is slow work.
The output includes a multi-size favicon.ico, PNG versions at 16 and 32 pixels, the Apple touch icon at 180 pixels, Android icons at 192 and 512 pixels, and a site.webmanifest file. Every file has its own download button, and "Download All" gives you the whole set as a ZIP. The ready-made HTML snippet sits next to it, so you only copy and paste. Your files never leave your device.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I generate a favicon?
Drag your logo onto the drop area, or click it and pick a file. All sizes are built immediately and shown as previews. Then press "Download All (ZIP)".
Where do the downloaded files go on my site?
Put all of them in your site root, the same folder as your homepage (often public_html on shared hosting). The paths in the HTML snippet start with a slash and assume the files are in the root.
Where do I add the HTML code?
Press Copy above the code box and paste it inside the head section of your page, before it closes. On WordPress you can place the same code via a child theme or a header-code plugin.
My image is not square, is that a problem?
No. A non-square image is cropped to a square from the center, and a message tells you it happened. If an important part of the logo falls outside, square the image yourself first.
What size should the source image be?
At least 512×512 pixels, preferably a PNG with a transparent background. Smaller images still work, but you will see a warning, because upscaling a small image makes the 512-pixel icon look soft.
Which formats can I upload?
PNG, JPG, SVG and WebP are accepted, up to 10 MB per file. Anything that is not an image, or is larger than that, returns an error.
I only want one size, do I have to take the whole ZIP?
No. Each card in the output list has its own download button, so you can grab just favicon.ico or just the Apple touch icon.
I installed the new favicon but the browser still shows the old one
Browsers cache favicons for a long time. Reload with Ctrl+F5, or open the file URL directly. The more reliable fix is adding a version parameter such as v=2 to the file path in your HTML.
What is site.webmanifest for?
When someone adds your site to their Android home screen, Android reads the site name and icon from this file. It is required for sites meant to be installable, and belongs in the site root with the other files.
Why is an ICO file still needed when I have PNGs?
An ICO holds several sizes in one file, and older browsers plus some tools read only that. The file built here contains the 16, 32 and 48 pixel versions together.
Should the icon include text or just the mark?
Just the mark, or a single letter. No text is legible at 16 pixels, so a full brand name turns into a smudge. The simplest, highest-contrast version of your logo works best.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image and the generated files never leave your device and are gone when you close the page.
