About This Tool

Measure your typing speed and accuracy and find your typing level — from Beginner to Expert. Your typing speed is calculated in WPM (Words Per Minute) along with accuracy percentage, and your personal best is saved.

Four time intervals are available: 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, and 5 minutes. Correct characters are highlighted in green and incorrect ones in red. At the end you can download a certificate with your name and typing level.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is WPM and how is it calculated?
WPM stands for Words Per Minute. Every 5 correctly typed characters counts as one word, divided by the elapsed time.
Why can't I copy and paste the text?
Copy and paste are disabled to ensure authentic test results. Also, switching browser tabs will pause the test.
How does this test determine my typing level?
Based on your speed (WPM), you fall into one of these five levels: under 30 WPM Beginner, 30 to 50 Average, 50 to 70 Proficient, 70 to 90 Advanced, and above 90 WPM Expert. Your result is saved locally in your browser so you can track your progress.
Can I get a certificate of my typing level?
Yes. At the end of the test you can enter your name (with an optional Mr./Ms. title) and download a certificate image showing your speed, accuracy, and typing level (e.g. Average or Advanced). You can share it however you like.
Is my typing record saved?
Yes. Your best WPM and accuracy for each time interval are saved locally in your browser so you can track progress over time. Records are not stored on any server.
How can I improve my typing speed?
Practice regularly — start with 10 to 15 minutes a day on shorter intervals. Focus on accuracy before speed; fast typing with many errors is worse than steady, accurate typing. Train without looking at the keyboard (touch typing).
